ITINERARY

A rough guide of what to expect on each day of your Moroccan adventure (please note this may change slightly from trip to trip)

DAY 1 - Arrive in Marrakech

Your Driftaway experience begins with a warm welcome! After settling in, dive into Marrakech’s vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa market, full of food, crafts and street performances.

DAY 2 - Travel to Atlas Mountains

After breakfast, enjoy a guided Marrakech city tour visiting the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace and Koutoubia Mosque. From here we travel through the Atlas Mountains for panoramic stops at Tizi n’Tichka ending at Ait Ben Haddou.

DAY 3 - NYE in The Sahara

We travel through Todra Gorge before arriving in The Sahara Desert. Watch the sunset over the dunes and settle into the desert camp for a once-in-a-lifetime New Year’s Eve party with DJs, dancing and a traditional Berber feast.

DAY 4 - Travel to Fez

Awake to a desert sunrise and enjoy breakfast before sand dune boarding. Continue to Rissani and onto Erfoud. Travel through the lush Ziz Valley and stop at the cedar forests, where you’ll spot Moroccan monkeys. Day ends in Fez.

DAY 5 - Chefchaouen "Blue City"

We begin the day with a guided tour of Fez’s stunning Royal Palace and its Medina. Drive to the magical blue city of Chefchaouen, where every street & building are washed in blue and breathtaking.

DAY 6 - Rabat - The Capital

In the morning, enjoy a tour unraveling the secrets of Chefchaouen. Spend some free time shopping or exploring before heading to Rabat, Morocco’s capital. Stroll through the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Medina in the evening.

DAY 7 - Visit Casablanca

Start the day viewing Rabat’s main attractions, including the iconic Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. From there, travel to Casablanca & visit the Hassan II Mosque. Back Marrakech for a farewell group dinner.

DAY 8 - Depart from Marrakech

After breakfast, say goodbye to your fellow travelers. Driftaway will provide transportation to the airport  or feel free to extend your stay if you want to explore more (at your own expense).

Navigate the souks of Marrakech lined with vendors, street eats & sensory overload. Marvel, explore & land a bargain in the heart of Moroccan culture.

Whilst in the Sahara you can't miss out on the opportunity to take part in camel trekking or sand dune boarding, both once in a lifetime experiences.

CHEFCHAOUEN

Renowned for it's striking, blue-washed buildings, Morocco's "blue city" is one of the most picturesque locations in the country.

MULTIPLE DESTINATIONS

Morocco is an explorers dream! We'll take you to multiple bucket list destinations inc Todra Canyon, Ait Ben Haddou, Atlas Mountains & Hassan II Mosque.

NIGHTLIFE EXPERIENCE

Nightlife in Marrakech can get pretty wild if you know where to look. With some insane nightclubs and lively bars, there will be plenty to do late into the night.

Here are a some Driftaway Trip Tips before embarking on your Moroccan adventure

TRY THE MINT TEA

Moroccan Mint Tea is the traditional tea of Morocco and absolutely delicious. The tea is rooted in hospitality and sociability and served at all occasions.

CURRENCY

Moroccan Dirham is a closed currency meaning you can only change within the country. Ensure you bring cash with you to change upon arrival in Morocco.

EXPLORE MARRAKECH

The Marrakech medina comes to life around 5pm. Step off the main streets to discover pretty street cafes, bistro restaurants and small boutiques.

EMBRACE LOCAL CUISINE

Moroccan cuisine is renowned for its flavours and variety of spices. Be sure to try traditional dishes like tagine and couscous. Stick to bottled water!

TO TIP OR NOT TO TIP

Tipping in Morocco is a common practice and is appreciated for good service. 10% in restaurants 10-20 Dirhams in hotels is appropriate.

BRING A JUMPER

Whilst the weather in Morocco can be very warm during the day, at night (certainly in the Sahara) in Dec/Jan the temperatures can drop a little.

FAQs & USEFUL INFO

Personal travel insurance and any necessary visas are not included in your trip package. Please ensure that you have both these in place prior to leaving for your destination. Driftaway Ltd will have tour operator insurance in place and all on the ground transport we use are fully insured for travel.

You have the opportunity to pay an initial deposit as well as having a longer period to split your payment instalments over which makes managing your funds that little bit easier.

Our Moroccan trip is normally for 7 nights. Flights will of course be cheaper if you're only bringing hand luggage or a carry on bag instead of checked in luggage however you may prefer to bring more rather than less. Over NYE it will get cooler at night so you may wish to bring a few warmer items of clothing and appropriate footwear.

Yes, we always try to build free time into all our trips so you can appreciate where we are at your own pace. Attending all our organised activities is not compulsory although highly advised to make the most of your trip experience.

The booking fee helps us cover the ticketing platforms cost of hosting our website and processing all purchases on our behalf as well as providing the functionality for deposits and payment instalments.

Yes, you'll need spending money for anything not included in the trip, for example, food throughout each day, drinks (including alcohol) and any activities or adventures you want to do during your free time. We'd advise bringing a small amount of cash just in case. Please note that Morocco has a closed currency so you can only change GBP once in the country. Please ensure you change it back before leaving the country.
