WHAT TO EXPECT

Here are some of the things you can expect from your Driftaway trip to Amsterdam (please note, some activities may differ depending on group preferences)

01/06

AWESOME CANALS

There are 4 main canals in Amsterdam, 3 of which date back to the 17th Century. They span over 60 miles and are incredible to take a boat down.

GUIDED TOUR

Dam is an explorers dream, packed with meandering roads & picturesque streets. Explore coffee shops, canals, bars & the famous Red Light District.

BAR CRAWL

Coffee shops aren't the only thing to hop around in Amsterdam. There are plenty of super cool bars with ice cold Heineken (+ more) to enjoy!

FOODHALLEN

One of the best reviewed European food halls lies just outside the main Amsterdam city centre and it is ace. All the cuisines you could want and plenty of bars.

CANAL CRUISE

Experience the amazing city of Amsterdam from the water, lined with over 1500 monumental buildings and more than 1700 bridges.

NIGHTLIFE

The city is packed with not just bars and coffee shops but clubs too and with music being a key part of all Driftaway trips, we'll have to pay one a visit.

TRIP TIPS

Here are a some Driftaway Trip Tips before embarking on your Amsterdam adventure. An ice cold Heineken is surely a must!

PRE PURCHASE TICKETS

Popular tourist spots such as Heineken Brewery can get very busy. Try pre book tickets for any spare time activities or tours.

CARRY CARDS & CASH

There is a growing movement of cafes and restaurants going cashless – while some of the more older haunts like bruin cafés may not take cards at all.

MIND THE CYCLISTS

Cyclists in Amsterdam mean business. Never walk in a cycling lane or risk the wrath of an angry local. Always take a good look both ways before crossing!

WATCH OUT FOR PICKPOCKETS

The busy, compact downtown is the perfect recipe for thieves – especially in busy squares and visitor areas. Stay aware and don't keep all valuables on you.

TO TIP OR NOT TO TIP

Tipping is not expected in Amsterdam where hospitality workers receive a fair wage. You may want to top if service warrants it - 10% max.

CAREFUL AROUND CANALS

Almost none have barriers, and yes, drownings have happened (thankfully not on Driftaway). Canals are lined with busy bars & coffee shops so take care.
